Bamberg
Bamberg is a German district and city situated in the Upper Franconia region in the state Bavaria.
The name Bamberg is first mentioned in 902 with the name of Castrum Babenberch,the House of Babenberg owned by the Babenberg family.
Bamberg is build on 7 hills, by the River Regnitz. Each hill has a church or a castle build on it.
Bamberg has the biggest authentic medieval historical centre of Germany. The Historical centre is placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city was not destroyed during World War II.

Some of the main attractions are:
* Michaelsberg Abbey : built in the 12th century.
* Alte Hofhaltung : former residence of the bishops(16th-17th century)
* Old Town Hall (1386).
* Neue Residenz : fromer residence of the bishops (after 17th century)
* Little Venice (Klein-Venedig), 19th century fishermen's houses.
* The Bamberger Reiter Cathedral(1237) : tombs of Henry II and Pope Clement II.
* The Altenburg Castle : former residence of the bishops.

Bamberg houses the Otto-Friedrich University and a lot of secondary schools, making it the home for many students.
The University was fouded in 1647 as 'The Academia Bambergensis'.

Bamberg is home to numburous breweries and famous for his historic and rich beer tradition.
One of them 'Schlenkerla Rauchbier', a smoked beer.
