Napoleaon was born on August the 8th,1769 on the island of Corsica. He was a descendent from a minor Nobel Italian Family. At a young age, Napoleon joined the French army . He was trained as an artillery officer.During the years of the French Revolution Napoleon became a well known military leader. In 1798 he started the Egyptian campaign in order to secure for France the route to India. On his way to Egypt he invaded the Islands of Malta. After his disastrous Egyptian campaign , Napoleon returned to France. He succeeded in increasing his Political Powers in France and ruled his country single handed from 1800 - 1814. In1815, after his legendary defeat of Waterloo, Napoleon was exiled to the Island St. Helena in the Atlantic ocean. He died there in the year 1821.
