Did you know that Machiavelli and Galileo Galilee are both buried in the Basilica of Santa Croce, Florence
Both were icons of the Renaissance. Both created discussions amongst the people of their time and far beyond. Galileo( 1564-1642), with his new astronomical interpretation, indirectly attacked the position of the Church. He claimed that the earth was not the center of the universe. Machiavelli ( 1469 – 1527) in his work "The Prince" openly discussed the Church as an earthly power.
