The Siberian Eagle Owl is a subspecies of the common European Eagle Owl. They share very similar characteristics and are among the largest owls in the world.
Its main habitat is cold Siberia. The Siberian Eagle Owl is lighter in color than the European Eagle Owl version.
This provides camouflage in surrounding snow and ice.
The Siberian Eagle Owl prefers to live in mountainous forest landscapes, semi-deserts and rocky slopes. Because of their big size and weight they can catch rather big preys. The owl feeds on medium-sized mammals, rabbits and hares, deer fawns, young foxes, hedgehogs, frogs, salamanders, crabs and cats. |
