The White-backed Vulture is a medium sized old world vulture that lives in Africa south of Sahara.
It is the most common vulture in southern Africa.
They have a body length of 78 to 90 cm and weigh between 4.2 and 7.2 kilograms.They have long wings (wingspan of 197-229 cm) and a short rounded tail. They are dark gray-brown with some pieces of light-colored feathers. The White-backed Vulture is a true scavenger (large mammals). |
